Summer Fruit Sampler with Strawberry Dip

When the Minnesota State Fair is only a week away, you know that autumn is right around the corner. It's time to enjoy that wonderful fresh picked summer fruit before it's gone. There's nothing better than fresh fruit, except fresh fruit with a wonderful strawberry dip. I don't know about you, but I love summer fruit. I'm not a big apple or orange eater, but put some pineapple, or peaches, or watermelon in front of me and I'll empty the bowl. By adding a fruit dip to the summer fruit makes it extra special.

At one time we could only purchase strawberries in the summer. Now, we can purchase strawberries any month of the year. I have to say though, there's nothing better than fresh picked strawberries. I have fond memories of strawberry picking in June of every year. I picked a lot and ate a lot while picking them. I'm sure everyone did that. All those beautiful strawberries to make strawberry shortcake, strawberry preserves, strawberry salads...oh I love those strawberries.

This dip can be made with many fruits, not just strawberries. However, strawberries are my favorite. Try the dip with blueberry jam, raspberry jam, orange marmalade or whatever jam or preserves you enjoy.

My Aunt and Uncle had a raspberry patch. They lived in Northern Minnesota, so the raspberries weren't ready until late July and early August. They were so delicious. I now make raspberry jam every year because I can. Nothing better than an English muffin with raspberry jam slathered all over it. Yum!!!!

One Final Thought...
Although summer is winding down, there's still time to enjoy all the summer bounties...including veggies and especially summer fruit and dip. This is definitely a short post...probably to remind us that the summer fruit season is almost done. So before Labor Day, bring out that summer fruit with a great fruit dip. You won't be disappointed.
